Lezione settimanale 13 Hello again, We use 'very much' with past participles when they are in passive verbs His position was very much weakened by his failure to cut petrol taxes. Mrs Thatcher was very much admired by her political opponents for her political skills. However we use 'very' when the past participle is used as an adjective. This is especially the case with adjectives of feeling such as amused, confused, surprised, thrilled He was very amused. I was shocked to hear the news. Note that 'mistaken' is not one of these adjectives and that we say You are very much mistaken.
